Reviews & Press

365MAG reviews "Tarry Not":

Every single track of this album is like a jigsaw: although unique in its shape and sound, the combination of them all results in a solid musical flow, adventurous and energetic at all times, and covered in a clear and crisp production. Whereas many minimal techno albums tend to lean towards vivid, joyful melodies, Limacon rather opts for soaring, almost punky synth sweeps, providing this album with a very deep overall vibe. Take Sans Rip for instance. This uptempo, 8-minute tech-house/techno hybrid opens like your average deep house track but slowly evolves into a major floor-filler as multiple layers of doomy synthesizers, motorized bass-lines, and raw effects are added in the most exciting way. Result: peaktime mayhem.

The Star (Canada) reviews "Tarry Not":

Lee might work the brainier end of the tech spectrum, but he knows that all the clever hiccups and glitches and layers of head-spinning percussion in the world don't mean a thing if the end product doesn't bump. And Tarry Not bumps mightily, from start to finish.

fwd.dj reviews "The Ride":

(snip) Overall this is a very creative, original and well-produced release. The KiloWatts remix and 'Remove' take the cake heads and shoulders above the rest, but only because they are so well formed. These last two tracks should be in every pertinent DJ’s crate, and the whole EP is worth sorting through for your snack of choice. Hats off to everyone involved! (snip)

Support from Princess Superstar...who knew?

“After an hour of trial-and-error listening, posing by turntables for photos, and telling stories of her musical adventures, Superstar made her last selection. “We finally  found a winner,” she exclaimed giddily, holidng up Limacon’s “Catch” 12-inch.”

Muster Funk:

Who already knows Limacon from its EPs on Resopal and Pokerflat, which should miss these here in no case, because its sound sounds here still DTE by and the radio still more darkly. “Ajar” is a powerful duchgestyltes Beast, which can make one addicted. And also the back with “Kunk” and “Rev” is shifted completely around the full curves of ring around the magically creeping bass LINES. Funky and reduces.

“Muster Funk EP” – Limacon – Intrinsic Design (US)

Hot off his notable release for Poker Flat, Chris Lee (aka Limacon) is back with another quality 3 tracker for NYC based, Intrinsic Design. “Ajar” is first with slick pads, heavy bass and tech rhythms. “Kunk” is a sonorous affair with delicate rhythms and a sizzling, static effect that is simply genius. The EP wraps with “Rev” a trippy, eclectic groove that is ready for your next late night set. **** (4 of 5)

IMP:

For Resopal Limacon is somewhat more direct than on Poker Flat and lets the bass LINE more knarziger go off, however then at the latest with “Leaves of acres Falling” comes to a nevertheless somehow funkigen Housesound, sometimes which betrays that in America everything from another Background is nevertheless seen.

Catch:

Very sympathetic EP and really, one notices that Poker Flat the classical Oldschool sound becomes slowly too close, not only to it that on the back a Sten Remix comes, but also at the finely verschuffelten Housetracks of Limacon, which retains a deepe kind Funkyness in both pieces, which mile far away from Acid leads one. Sten is naturally a raised monster, that in the night everything davonsegelt on an uncertain however promiseful future, is always like that, is also always perfect.

Catch:

"Santa Cruz, the nut/mother of all California Surferstaedtchen, can praise itself the first Beachwalk recreational park and is nevertheless wonderful unaufgeregt. Exactly the same as the music of its inhabitant Limaçon. The Grooves swings laidback before itself, does not continue to itself break open in eternal repetition and urge itself also. That Hamburg Lawrence, here as its Techno alias Sten, whistles its most remarkable elements on the lame lethargy and entreisst the TRACKS in favor of a obligating demanding radio."
